Muskoka Eats

One of the joys of Canadian summer is spending time at the Cottage up north, in beautiful Muskoka, two hours away north of Toronto.  We spent a week in a cottage at the Clevelands House Resort last week and we discovered some really good places to dine up north, in Muskoka. First, the food and drinks at Rock's On The Dock, located inside the  Clevelands House Resort were really delicious and well presented. Their menu offered wonderful appetisers like calamari, Canadian classics beef brisket poutine, pulled port poutine among others. I tried their fish and chips here which was a pretty generous size and really full of fish meat and their delicious French Dip made with roast beef sandwich and dipping gravy with fries. Both were really tasty and worth the try. We also tried to go out and eat out at the Turtle Jack's in Port Carling, located between Lake Muskoka and Lake Rousseau in Port Carling. The restaurant is near shops for some shopping. We tried their Chicken fajita which was also a generous size and delicious. One of the best things to drink in Muskoka is their beers from Muskoka Brewery one of the best in the country. My favourite is drinking their Cream Ale Muskoka beer. Both restaurants have views of the water and eating al fresco were just both perfect for summer!

Weekend In Port Carling

Port Carling, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.

Here we are boating along Lake Rosseau in Port Carling, Muskoka. Lake Rosseau is one of the major lakes in Muskoka. This lake is closer to Lake Muskoka but more posh as it is known as the Millionaires Row. Most of the cottages and boathouses here are huge and worth millions. But what I captured here are the beautiful Boathouses of Muskoka. They are quite grand and known as "Shelter at the Shore"  as they function too as living quarters on the lake. Nothing beats a perfect Weekend morning, taking in the quietness of the surroundings, except maybe for the sound of the birds, the sound of the waves and breathing in the fresh air.

Grand expanse of Lake Rosseau.

A multi million Cottage and behind it is the Guest House.

Passing through a Vintage boat.

Some Volleyball fun on the lake.

Back in Port Carling..

Hang out at Turtle Jack's Patio for some meal by the lake.

Muskoka Living Interiors

Muskoka Living Interiors Store, Port Carling, Muskoka, Canada.

Muskoka Living Interiors Store is my favourite store here in Cottage Country, located in the posh Port Carling area. I called Port Carling posh because this is the town where most of the Multi-million cottages are located. Port Carling is in between the two lakes - Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau. This coming weekend I will show you around Lake Rosseau to see the Millionaires Row. But here at Muskoka Living Store is the place to shop to furnish the cottage in luxury and style.
I come here for interior design inspiration and I just love their products. The store's products reflect cottage style but can be of use for your house in the city too. Some products are pricey but there are also affordable products in the store. I just love the good quality and design of their products. There is also an Interior Designer service in-store. Then on the other end of the store is their Sales Area where any knick knacks are on display a la "flea market" style. My mother and I enjoy shopping here for home decor. Even the owner of the store chatted with us briefly and told us that we can even come into their store with our dog, Barkley. We thought that was so nice.
If you have been following my blog for awhile now, you will notice that I tend to always find shopping places anywhere, even here in the wilderness. But Muskoka Living is very classy and elegant store right in the middle of the Muskoka wilderness.

The Blue and White Nautical theme is carried out throughout the store for their Summer Style.

"I must have read that book twice every summer in that same, quiet spot.
Nobody bothered me for a good five minutes at a time."

"Some things are sacred to the cottage.
Coffee & Baileys.
Mildewy life jackets.
And my bed."

These are one of my favourite throw pillows.. So cottage style!

Many choices of rugs for the cottage.

Here are some knick knacks in the Sale Area.

Just sit and relax. We are in cottage country.
