Something Beautiful And Delicious

You may ask, what is this something beautiful and delicious? Something brown and square? Something round in pastel colours? One of the delightful places I discovered in Paris was La Maison Chocolats Richart located at Rue Bonaparte. I discovered this store while walking along Rue Bonaparte, north of Saint Germain des Prés. The store is also near Ladurée on this side of the 6th Arrondissement.  Chocolats Richart was established since 1925 in Paris as a confectioner of chocolates and macarons using the finest of ingredients. As you can see here, the chocolates are just a thing of beauty. Design is their passion that is why their chocolates are a work of art in itself. They are too pretty to eat. The prices are not so expensive too. One of the things I love in Paris, is that they have these stand alone Chocolate boutiques. It's one of a kind in the world. The good news for us here in North America is that they ship these freshly made chocolates and macarons to our North American continent by shopping on-line here.

Bon Appétit!

So Irresistible Nadège Macarons

If you have been reading my Blog for sometime now, you would know that macarons are one of my favourite. I just cannot pass up a free offering of macarons anytime. It just brightens my day to see a tray of colourful macarons being offered right in front of my eyes and just within my grasp. During a visit at Holt Renfrew on Bloor Street, there was a free offering of some Nadège Pâtisserie macarons. Nadège offers one of the best macarons in our City. Offering different flavours like Cotton Candy, Mojito and Blackberry Chocolate among other flavours. Besides their famous macarons, they also make cakes, pastries, chocolates and marshmallows in different flavours. They were at Holt Renfrew that weekend to promote their variety of products. I am was so delighted to try some macarons especially the Cotton Candy, Pistachio and Chocolate flavours that I ended up purchasing some to bring home for my family to enjoy. I hope seeing these macarons will brighten your day too!

Nadège is a fourth generation french pastry chef who has trained all over France then worked with Pierre Hermé's right hand man in London. Her boutique here in Toronto offers french style pastries, cakes, macarons, chocolates and marshmallows. The good news is that they have an e-boutique which delivers from coast to coast here in Canada only. Read more about Nadège in Spotlight Toronto

For The Love Of Macarons

This coming Thursday, 20 March is Macaron Day Toronto which celebrates the love of Macaron for a charitable cause. This event was started by the famous macaron maker, Pierre Hermé in Paris, France. This event is now celebrated in several cities around the World including Toronto, New York City, London and Paris. There will be some Patisseries around Toronto participating who will be giving out free macarons to celebrate the day and proceeds from the sale of the macarons will  benefit the Red Door Family Shelter.
One of the Patisseries that will participate on Macaron Day and which I recently discovered to my big delight is Butter Avenue. Their popular Earl Grey macaron smells so fragrantly and taste so much like the Earl Grey tea. From the photo above, next time I visit, I will try their Cream Cheese Passion fruit. I enjoy tasting different  flavours of macarons. It is my guilty pleasure.
These four flavours here are my favourites too like the chocolate and vanilla with chestnut filling, the Pistachio Wild Cherry, Sea Salt Caramel and the White Chocolate Strawberry. Which one will you choose?
Special and pretty Mousse tartes with macarons only from Butter Avenue.
These tartes can be made in Medium and Large to share with others for a special celebration.
I tried the St. Honore with the Lychee Raspberry macarons paired with their Black Emperor Tea which is made with Black Tea and Rose. The tarte was not so sweet as advised by the Sales Associate at Butter Avenue. Paired with my Emperor Tea, I was not drowning in sweetness. But definitely in macaron tarte and tea heaven.
The decadent macaron decor at Butter Avenue.  I shall return.

In Toronto, check the List of Participants on Macaron Day.

Go get some macarons for a good cause.
