Urgent Appeal for the Philippines

A tattered Philippine Flag among the destruction.

Last week I shared with you all the beautiful paradise of Boracay Island in the Philippines. That was several weeks ago when the weather in the Philippines was clear and sunny. Then just last Thursday, a Super Typhoon Haiyan lashed on the Philippines and inflicted catastrophic devastation to the Southern Visayas Region of the Philippines including Boracay Island. There was less damage in Boracay including loss of communication and electrical power but that is nothing compared to major devastation experienced in the other Islands of Leyte, Samar, Bohol, Cebu, Panay and even Palawan. As you probably saw in the news these past few days, the death toll will rise dramatically, some towns were completely wiped out, many Filipinos residing in those Islands lost their homes, schools, churches and their livelihood. The Philippines will have a lot to do about the recovery, the clean up and the re-building. But before they can do that, they will need, right now, immediate and critical relief from Overseas as there are hunger and despair in the land. Please help the Philippines by donating funds to the Worldwide organisations below. These Worldwide organisations are appealing for our support. A little help goes a long way to help others. Even I can't believe how life can change so fast and dramatically from a paradise haven to so much destruction and despair. Thank you for your support.

Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda came with 250 kph wind gusts and storm surge reported to almost 20 ft waves which destroyed these villages. This Typhoon is currently called the strongest typhoon in the World. Stronger than Hurricane Sandy and Katrina that devastated the USA several years ago,  that is why the damage inflicted to the Visayas Region was catastrophic.

Here in Canada, the Government of Canada, in addition to some funds already donated to the Philippines Typhoon Relief, have also pledged to match every donation given to registered charities in Canada including donations to the Canadian Red Cross and to UNICEF Canada therefore doubling the impact of your donation. Please give generously. Even a little help goes a long way to help others.

Thank you again for your support.
