Links of Light and Celebration

This month, I have been receiving Christmas catalogues from some of brands that I patronise. One of them is Links of London which is a British brand known for their jewellery, especially the Friendship Bracelets.  So I thought I would share them with you as it is a beautiful catalogue with inspiring pictures and exquisite jewellery collection. It would be a great Christmas gift idea for yourself or for others. Links of London is available in Canada at Holt Renfrew.

Here are my answers to the questions that Ines from all the way from Chile asked when she nominated The Style and Travel Journals for the Liebster Blog Award in her inspiring blog Simply Classy Me.  Thank you very much Ines. I am honoured to be included in your nominees.  I also listed here my nominees for the Liebster Blog Award.

What is your strangest talent?
My strangest talent I guess is that I have this radar of  finding things... Some of my family and friends would be amazed and ask me where and how do I find these things, that blog, that book?  I just find them. Sometimes, they just show up to me or I just come across things. Maybe I am just more aware or just like what some people have told me  that my "radar is always switched on."
Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?
Both behind and in front of the camera. You got to love and trust yourself that you will look good in front of the camera. Also got to love and trust the person behind the camera taking your picture so that it will all turn out good!

Do you have any obsessions right now?
Right now, my obsession is anything from the French Luxury brand Celine because they are hard to get here in Toronto. I have a lifelong love of Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

Links Jewellery pouch.

Do you save money or spend it?
I both save and spend money. I believe in a balanced account and lifestyle.

Do you have a collection of anything?
I have a Bags collection and also a collection of Bracelets from around the World.  I have some Links of London bracelets and mostly bracelets from my travels around the world like from Italy, France, USA, Morocco, Spain, Philippines among other countries.

What's a sound you hate and a sound you love?

I love the sound of chirping birds early in the morning especially during the Spring and Summer Weekends. It is just so lovely and peaceful to wake up to.

I do not like the sound of reggae music and those old cars revving up their modified engines on the Highway. On a racetrack, that's fine, but if you will rev up your modified engine just to show off then why is that necessary?

Do you believe in Luck?
Yes, I believe in Luck.
Luck has some innocence to it and also full of promises which may or may not happen.

What is your Greatest Weakness?
I am temperamental. I guess it is the Spanish in me. I have learnt to control my temper and my over excitement on things.  To be more rational.

Another Weakness:  My  impatience which I inherited from my late Father. My late father was so punctual and instilled that on us.  I learn to be more patient.

What is your greatest strengths?
Just like this Links necklace, I am strong, honest, hardworking, kind, helpful, friendly, generous, intuitive and passionate and loyal to people and things that I love. I believe in getting along and forming links with people. I love this circle chain necklace too.

What is your Heritage?
My Heritage is Filipino. I was born in Manila, Philippines, known as the Pearl of the Orient.  My whole family on both sides are actually from Spain. My Spanish ancestors moved to the Philippines and hence the following generations were born in the Philippines. My family moved to Canada when I was 17 years old. I have lived both in Asia and here in Canada. I learnt to easily adapt, to be more open and that sometimes, we don't know where life will take us.

What is your current Desktop picture?
A Cottage by Lake Muskoka. Besides our house in Toronto, Muskoka is my other happy place here in Canada. We go to Lake Muskoka during the summer for rest and recreation.

What's a song that  makes you  happy when you hear it?
I love music. I have many favourites. It is very hard for me to choose a particular song. So I would like to share with  you my morning drive ritual.  A radio station here in Toronto, Chum FM 104.5, plays every week day mornings at 8 am sharp, the Wayback, where they choose a request from a listener with their two choices of 80s songs. The winner receives a prize. So every week day morning, they play two songs from the 80s like from Depeche Mode, ABC, Madonna, Tears For Fears, The Cure, Michael Jackson and other bands and singers from the 80s. This really makes my drive to work a pleasure and already makes my day!

Summer Journeys and Liebster Blog Awards

Los Angeles Freeway.

This is the summer season which is usually the time for vacations especially road trips and any other journeys. Here are some of the photographs from my road trip around California. The views were just spectacular. So different from the East Coast. The mountains in California are just dry because of the summer dry season but golden. The mountains look like they are covered with golden sand but they are dry grass. But there are still some greenery in between which makes the landscape colourful and alive.  Wherever your journeys are this week and the whole summer,  may you all have a safe and fantastic travels. Don't forget to enjoy the views along the way!

Last week was the first anniversary of my blog.  I thought that this is my perfect opportunity to recognize some of my favourite blogs for the Liebster Blog Awards:

1. Northern California Style, the blog by Kim Wheeler, who is residing in Northern California, near San Francisco. She is such a sweet and generous person. Her blog shows her family, lifestyle, love of fashion, interior decorating and most of all we learn from her blog all the things she loves especially the happenings in Northern California.

2. Heart-2-heart, is a blog by Rica L. De Jesus from Manila, Philippines. Loved her blog since I discovered it. Her blog features many events in Manila, my previous hometown, around the Philippines, around Asia and most of all her travels with her family. Rica and I both attended the same high school, our alma mater, Assumption College. Her younger sister, Maricar and her cousin, Marga were my high school classmates.  Her blog makes me homesick but at the same time keeps me updated about the Philippines and Asia. Rica loves to eat. She features so many restaurants in her blog which is a very good reference when travelling to the Philippines. She loves her family and friends  as she always share all of their grand and festive occasions on her blog. Definitely a blog to check out.

3. Snow In The Air is a blog by Connie Snow from Southern California. I enjoy her blog for her soulful presentation of her favourite topics in nature, animals, family and other things. It is always enriching to learn different perspectives.

4. The Magical Christmas Wreath Company, is a blog by Paul residing in London, UK. I thoroughly enjoy his blog for his humour and whimsical presentation of the things and places that he enjoys. We also learn from his blog about his city, London and the rest of the United Kingdom. He shares in his blog his adventures in some British Islands, castles, country estates and National Parks. Also some features in design and the Best of the British products and food.

5. Inredningsvis, is a blog from Sweden by Maria. From her blog, I learnt that "Inrednigsvis" in Swedish, is translated in English as  "Design wise." Her blog is all about inspiration.    Maria is an Interior Designer. Her blog reflects her love of interior design, the beauty of a garden, food and the pleasures of each season. Her blog is full of light as her interiors are mostly white, light blue, pastel colours and sometimes full of colour. She shares to us about her country, Sweden.  Thank you Maria for providing an English translation in your blog. It is always nice to know something new especially for me, as I have not travelled to Sweden yet. Maybe one day!

According to my research,
"The origins of the Liebster Blog award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany, Liebster meaning favourite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient can then pass it on to five more blogs of note. A way of introducing other bloggers to the blogs you enjoy."

I wish all of my new blogging friends  a successful and happy journeys!
