Exploring The Dead Sea

Every thing here at the Dead Sea, located between Israel and Jordan is dead. The waters of the Dead Sea has the highest saline (salt) concentration and is located in the lowest part of the World at 1,412 ft below sea level. You could feel your ears pop as you descend to this lowest part of the World. The Dead Sea is also in the middle of the Negev Desert in Judea. There is no life here ever since God destroyed the nearby towns of Sodom and Gomorrah with raining burning sulfur due to their great evil sins. Underneath this body of water is black thick mud, which some people believed to come from the decomposed  bodies of the towns people from Sodom and Gomorrah. These black mud are now harvested for its health benefits. Since the times of King Herod, this area became a health resort. There are now Dead Sea skin care products, known to cure psoriasis, which are sold in stores around  here. Locals and tourists alike flock here to try the health benefits of the salt and black mud for their skin. No matter what your beliefs, this is the only body of water where God has not placed any living creature.

One of the instructions is never dive with your head first. The high salt concentration can be acidic and harm your eyes. People just float with your body and head up. The high salt concentration allows you to float and not drown.

I purchased the Dead Sea black mud mask which really softens and cleans the skin. My skins feels like baby soft skin. There are also Dead Sea Salt soaps, Dead Sea black mud soaps, lotions, creams, moisturisers among other skin care products.

High salt concentration during low tide. Salt, in the Bible is a symbol of death, judgement, disobedience and destruction. As God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with burning sulfur, these salt is the symbol of God's punishment towards His people.

Dead Sea right in the middle of the Negev Desert.
Believe it or not, here is the Sodom Tree, the only plant that survived God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. This tree, up to this day, have no birds, no butterflies, no ants, insects that come near it. The tree produces a Sodom apple (right photo ) which is empty and acidic inside. This tree was cursed by God and remains cursed to this day. This was the first time that I encountered an actual tree that God cursed.  It's true that God can destroy, curse and is merciful, as this tree continues to grow in this region.
