A Weekend In The Sea Of Galilee

We visited the surrounding biblical towns around Sea of Galilee, north of Jerusalem and near Nazareth during our tour of Israel. The biblical towns around here witnessed the many lives of the apostles and the miracles of Jesus himself. One of the chosen apostles who lived here in Capernaum, by the Sea of Galilee is Saint Peter. He was a fisherman in the Sea of Galilee and this was the same place where he met Jesus. We visited in Capernaum, St Peter's original house where a Franciscan Church is now built on top. Then we also had a memorable lunch at St. Peter's Restaurant nearby where we had the famous, St. Peter's fish, which is tilapia. There was a buffet of Israeli vegetables including hummus and pita bread. We even got tried an authentic Arabic coffee in its purest espresso form and some dates, grown famously in the country. The Sea of Galilee is not only a place full of biblical history but also a place for the locals to enjoy swimming, relaxation and recreation. The views are fantastic. On the other side of the Sea is already Jordan, which seems so close but still far away.

Jesus said to St. Peter: Thou art Peter, Upon this rock, I will build my Church.

  4. Another story I read over and over. Wow, the fish was tilapia. I didn't know that. Love this historic site. The restaurant was nice. Funny to see the Pepsi logo on St. Peter.
