Chic Birdcages

Bird cages from William Ashley's Christmas window.

Since this Christmas I kept seeing Birdcages used as chic decorations in store windows and for the home. The Birdcages from the William Ashley store in the picture above looked so magical on their Christmas window. They decorated their store window with golden Birdcages filled with the birds and owl China figurines hand crafted from the Royal Crown Derby. Then this month, while stopping by at one of my favourite stores here in Toronto, I saw this huge birdcage from Pottery Barn used as a curio cabinet for the Living Room to display your plants, books, photo frames and other knick knacks that you can fill it with. I thought the Birdcage was so chic and functional at the same time to display your items inside the house instead of using a traditional glass cabinet. Here are some style inspirations using the Birdcage inside the home. What do you think?

I love this style idea from Pottery Barn.
The birdcage has double doors behind it in order to put in your collections and to display in your Living Room.

May you have a fabulous and inspiring week!

  2. There seem to be more and more of these in the shops in an array of shapes and sizes. The Pottery Barn one looks pretty in the nest to the last photo- I'm admiring those aqua cushions too!

  5. I have developed a major fascination with bird cages since moving to Vietnam Pamela. They seem to be everywhere and no one is able to tell me the significance. Every shop, every street corner...every market...there are birds in birdcages and now I want one...in a big way. I have a quest to find a few vintage ones. Wish me luck!! Thx for posting this...love the images. Best wishes... xx jeanne

  7. I had really admired a beehive-shaped bird cage I saw in a children's clothing store in Manhattan Beach a while ago, but I didn't have enough room for one in my condo. The versions you show with the shelves seem much more practical!

  8. There is no doubt bird cages make quite the statement as a center piece in a beautiful room... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  9. when I see the cells, it makes me sad, for me this as a lack of freedom. despite the fact that these cells are very cute, I would not use this item of decoration in its interior))) thanks for the beautiful pictures! kisses)))

  16. I actually have a distressed bird cage in a funky light green that I inherited from a tenant. I've been wanting to do so many things with it like use it on a fashion shoot or put potted flowers in it. And then . . . I could always get a bird guess . . .

  17. You know I love birdcages Pamela. Just today whilst visiting a client I noticed she had an identical cage to one I bought at les marchés aux puces when I worked in Paris some years ago. It was very similar to your last image, I cannot recall whatever happened to it now!
