Spectacular Christmas Lights

I am sharing here some over the top pictures of spectacular Christmas lights.  The private homes and families that live in these homes have transformed their properties into these Christmas lights extravaganza. These Christmas lights were switched on last Saturday, December 1st. This is a Christmas tradition here in Pickering, East of Toronto for many years now. The Mayor of Pickering have this Christmas Lights Competition among the residents where the winner is determined through voting on December 15th. On this particular street three private homes have these mega Christmas lights display which have caught the attention of the residents and all around Toronto.

These families deserve all of the exposure here because they designed and assembled all of these wonderful lights on their own and from their own pockets. No corporate sponsorships here. Just plain old fun, dedication and philanthropy from the families. As they share  these Christmas lights display for the Community and also contributing to their own choice of Charity through voluntary donations from the visitors. This first house is owned by the Wrights Family who accept donations for their local church Food Bank. It took them a month to assemble all of these using numerous electrical extensions. Everything was done to the detail as I captured in the photos here. The event last Saturday night was so much fun complete with hot chocolate with marshmallows, some home baked goodies, hot chili soup and even some gifts for giveaway. Then after the spectacular switching on of the lights, someone special showed up too. Who showed up is a surprise later!

Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable Food for the Community Food Bank.
Even Santa is up on the roof.
Huge icicles on display.
The electrical connections all through out to make all this possible.
I love the pine cones here..Everything was showcased to the detail.
Some hot chocolate drink with marshmallows, goodies and chili soup for the visitors.

House #2

This is the neighbour's house.

The Nativity Scene.
Snoopy dressed as Santa and some reindeer.
Here's some snow!

Santa Claus is up on the roof!

House #3

I like the elves climbing up the ladder.

Then guess who showed up?

"Ho Ho Ho!"
Santa Claus here doesn't want to miss out on the fun. So he posed here for a picture. Then greeted everybody including children asking them for their Christmas wishes.
This boy asked Santa Claus for a Bicycle. Santa Claus told the Boy that he will do all he can to give him the Bicycle.

I hope these have brought you some Christmas Spirit!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. They have gone to so much trouble and for such a good cause. A good idea to accept food donations too. Wonderful photos and I especially like the one of Santa and the little boy.
