What better way to spend cozy time with family but to watch a time travel movie shot entirely in Paris, France? The Film, Midnight in Paris, was written, produced and directed by Woody Allen. Some might love or hate Woody Allen films but it is for sure a satirical and artful movie. One of the things I enjoyed in this film besides the beautiful setting of one my favourite cities in Europe, Paris, is the cast ensemble of Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Michael Sheen, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard and the special participation of the beautiful France First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Woody Allen also masterfully orgazined all together in one film the different eras of Paris from the the Belle Epoque, the Roaring 20s to the Present. There was even one scene in the movie where the Private Detective, hired by Gil's (Owen Wilson) Future In-laws, got lost in Versailles Palace and stumbled upon King Louis XIV and Queen Marie Antoinette.
The DVD version was out since December 20th. Here in Toronto, this DVD movie has been sold out since it came out last December 20th. Even at HMV, this movie was sold out. Good thing, I found some, last 8 copies in our local Wal-Mart.
Here are some questions about the movie adapted from the Midnight in Paris Facebook page (with some of my modifications):
1. I would describe Paris as______________.
2. What Parisian Era would you like the best?
3. What is your favourite site in Paris?
4. Who would you rather hang out in Paris- Gil, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald or Salvador Dali?(for Women)
Who would you rather hang out in Paris - the Museum Guide, Inez, Gabrielle or Adriana? (for Men)
5. Would would you rather kiss on New Year's Eve?
(For Women) - Owen Wilson, Michael Sheen or Adrien Brody?
(For Men) - Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard or Carla Bruni-Sarkozy?
Here are my answers:
1. I would describe Paris as romantically beautiful.
2. The best Parisian Era for me would be the Roaring 20s. It would be fun to visit the Jazz venues every night, drinking champagne, meeting all the various Artists during that time from Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, Cole Porter to Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali.
3. My favourite site in Paris is the Seine River with all of its beautiful and extravagant bridges crossing it! Walking along the Seine River to see the view of the Notre Dame, Paris City Hall, the Louvre, the Musee D'Orsay, the Eiffel Tower and all of the beautiful Residential Buildings along the river.
4. I would rather hang out with Gil and Adriana as they both had fun hanging out in the movie together.
5. I would rather kiss on New Year's Eve - Michael Sheen!
Here is Gil (Owen Wilson) walking along my favourite site in Paris, the Seine River, overlooking the many Parisian Buildings along the way and also passing by the beautiful bridges.
I hope you had fun watching the movie and also answering the questionnaire above! Please do share your answers in the Comments section below. Try to get hold of the DVD before the New Year arrives. Then you might be inspired to visit Paris in the coming New Year!
Happy New Year!
May peace, love, prosperity and excellent health follow you always!
