We spent the Labour Day weekend, the last long weekend of summer visiting Prince Edward County an island along Lake Ontario, about a few hours east of Toronto. We discovered that it is rural with vineyards, lavender fields and a Provincial Park with a popular beach for the locals. First in our agenda was to visit the Prince Edward County Lavender farm located at 732 Closson Road which has a lavender field, bed & breakfast and a store that sold their natural products from their lavender harvest. We tried for the first time a lavender gelato which tasted so delicious and was so fragrant. Driving around the island, we were impressed by the numerous vineyards that we passed along the way to the Sandbanks Provincial Park. The park is popular for its natural sand dune formation and for summer swimming in Lake Ontario. A visit here at Prince Edward County was a perfect way to end the summer fun with lavender ice cream, some wine tasting and a refreshing swim on the lake. Oh summer, I will miss you. Till next time again.
