The much anticipated Fashion show in Paris by Nicolas Ghesquière was his debut collection for Louis Vuitton. Before the show, talented photographer, Juergen Teller photographed some clothes and accessories from the debut collection in an album called A Dozen Girls which also included views of Paris exclusively seen from the Louis Vuitton Headquarters along the Seine River in Paris. This collection from Nicolas is very French, sublime and pure. It does not have the showmanship of Marc Jacobs past collections and fashion shows but that is alright. It is just the beginning. Nicolas is building a strong foundation to start from at Louis Vuitton then will start on building his own portfolio based on his design principles and blending it with Louis Vuitton's history of craftmanship and design. As he stated on his letter below, it is a start, a new day, full of inspiration, hope and lots to look forward to in the coming seasons.
An Excerpt from a personal letter from Nicolas Ghesquière before his Debut Collection:
Today is a new day. A big day. You are about to witness my first fashion show for Louis Vuitton. Words cannot express exactly how I am feeling at this moment... Above all, immense joy at being here, in the knowledge that my stylistic expression is at one with the Louis Vuitton philosophy. The proud legacy. The inspiring history that looks to the future and to the world. The quest for authenticity and innovation. The desire of timelessness.
- Nicolas Ghesquière, Creative Director, Louis Vuitton

My Favourites are Kirsten's rib embroidered dress and Marte's embroidered spiral skirt. The latter is gorgeous with beautifully detailed embroidery on pleat, love it!
