A Surprise and Mischief in the Garden

Siberian Irises and Clematis.

Our Garden this year is full of surprises and mischief. Just this weekend alone, we discovered so many blooms showing a variety of colours and scents in our garden. We are even anticipating in a few weeks the birth of some birds. Then Alvin is back! With lots of rain these past few days, we have many to look forward to in the garden this Summer.
Peonies and Roses blooming in our garden.

To our surprise, our window ledge has a Robin's bird nest with four eggs in this distinct Robin's egg blue. I learnt from Wikipedia, that this blue shade is an official Crayola colour also known as eggshell blue. American Luxury Jeweller, Tiffany & Co also adopted this colour which is colloquially known as Tiffany Blue.
I am in awe on how perfect the Mother Bird created this nest. The Mother Bird is also so smart and very protective to place her nest by our window ledge instead of in our nearby tree. At least over here, the squirrels and Alvin will not reach her eggs. She lays there all day and all night. She just flies away whenever I come near the window to check on them. From what I read, it takes 14 to 16 days for the eggs to hatch which will be on the first week of July.
Some Aquilegia-Columbine in our garden.
White and Green blooms.
Meet the mischievous Alvin the Chipmunk.
Yes, Alvin is officially back as of last Sunday. He loves to hang out at our Birdhouse by our tree near our deck. We spotted him during the day just owning this part of our tree. He is very playful, going up and down the tree. Perhaps looking for something to eat. Looked like he was munching something on the above photo.

In all things of nature there is something of the marvellous.

Enjoy the wonders of nature this week!

    1. Hi Sam, oh no chipmunks are considered wildlife and cannot become pets. They are just fascinating to look at from a distance.

  6. Pamela. Of course you have the most lovely garden. Beauty attracts beauty. And those bird eggs!!! That is definitely good luck. We had some little birds in our bush once. You could hear them chirping while their mom was gone but if you looked into the nest they would stop immediately. They could sense that we were near. Nature!!!!!!!!

  11. Very pretty My mom had a nest at her bedroom window and it was pretty cool to see the baby birds when they did hatch. We have squirrels too but they are quite trouble. I stopped feeding my bunnies because they would take all the food! Your flowers are beautiful, I love to look at them but have no patience for yard work.

  16. I've been following along on Instagram. Keep us posted on the Robin eggs. Our garden is full of Robins. I love having them follow me around when I'm working. They are, of course, waiting for worms while I dig and weed. Looks beautiful, Pamela :)
