Taste Of The Danforth in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
One of the things I love about Toronto during Summer are the Festivals. It is the only season that we can celebrate outdoors. One of these major festivals is the Taste Of The Danforth which is a street festival along Danforth Avenue in Toronto celebrating Greek food, music and culture. Toronto has always been a diversified City. We have many different districts around the City like the Greek area, East Indian Area, Little Italy and several Chinatowns. Here on the Danforth, it is lined with many restaurants mostly Greek. In the past several years, many different Restaurants have opened along the Danforth which included Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian and even Spanish food. At least, there are more choices for food in the area. The festival starts on a Friday night on the second weekend of August until Sunday. It was a weekend about Food, Drinking and Culture. As you can see in my pictures here, the whole street is filled with people looking forward to their own food adventure. Here is my own food adventure, also some entertainment and some Toronto sport.
View of Danforth Avenue which was closed off for the Street Festival of Food!
Grilling the Chicken Souvlaki...
How about some Beef Souvlaki? I tried one of these and they are the most tender beef souvlaki ever! Just delicious!
Grilling the Gyro.
Preparing the Pita Bread.
My meal of pita bread with chicken souvlaki, tzatziki sauce and tomatoes.
More pita bread and gyro being prepared.
Grilled Calamari and lamb.
Corn cobs and some lamb on the grill.
It is not all Greek food in the Street Festival, here are some Thai food: calamari and Pad Thai noodles.
Serving Paella.
Greek Desserts.
Almost gone - a tray of Baklava.
Here's more Baklava and Sweet Honey Balls.
Some Sights along Danforth Avenue.
A View of a Catholic Church on Danforth Avenue.
A touch of Greece in Toronto.
The Line-ups for the Best Food...
Free Entertainment.
Some dancing to entertain us! Watch their short Dance video below shot by me.
Some drinking. According to Toronto By-law, those consuming Alcohol must stay in an enclosed area. Street Alcohol drinking is not allowed in Toronto.
I just have to take a picture of Toronto's Hockey Team - Toronto Maple Leafs! Go Leafs Go!
Summer! We love Summer!
Here is a short Video I shot during the Festival. Some dancing in the street.
This is the first time I used the video feature in my Nikon D5100. Please excuse my amateur video. I hope you enjoy it!
As Greeks would cheer "Opa!"
