Marty's World Famous Cafe, Bracebridge, Muskoka, Canada. Here in the Cottage Country in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, there is one Cafe known as Marty's World Famous Cafe which is well known for its Butter Tarts. The Cafe is located in Bracebridge, Ontario, right in the heart of the Muskoka. I learnt about this Cafe from fellow blogger Lynne Knowlton of the blog Design The Life You Want To Live. We were just chatting about Butter Tarts on twitter and then she suggested to me to drop by this place to taste the seriously delicious Butter Tarts ever. Lynne thinks she already gained five pounds the moment she walked in the Cafe. It is true, I felt like I have gained five pounds upon entering the Cafe! As we entered, we were greeted by the display of freshly baked muffins, cookies, pastry bars, pies, freshly made sandwiches, wraps and trays after trays of their World famous Butter tarts. One of my favourite desserts is Butter tarts, together with vanilla ice cream is just heavenly. I don't know but the Butter tarts here in Canada just taste better than anywhere else in the world. I guess it must be our Maple syrup which is used in the recipe. Here are some goodies of what to expect at Marty's Cafe. Who is Marty? Here he is in his Marty's World Famous Cookbook. Marty Curtis was from Bolton, Ontario. He grew up in a family of self employed parents from which he learnt the entrepreneurial spirit. As a teenager, he was already working as an apprentice at Baffo's Pizzeria and Restaurant in Bolton. He was inspired by the hard work and kindness of the Pizzeria's owners so he decided that one day he would follow the Pizzeria's owners and be an owner in the restaurant industry. Working in the restaurant business also contributed to his passion for food. But in University, he was bored and uninspired. He dropped out of University and decided to travel around Europe upon the advise of Chris Haney, co-inventor of Trivial Pursuit. Mr. Haney advised Marty that "travel was the key to his success." So Marty embarked on a tour of Europe and Africa for a year, discovering and absorbing the various European culture, food and atmosphere. When he returned to Canada, he worked various jobs which did not give him any fulfilment. So he decided to go back to his former passion which was Food and the restaurant business. From his passion, he started his own Cafe which now has grown to be the Marty's World Famous Cafe with its many products now available for sale. Marty's World Famous Cookbook offers many different recipes including Muskoka Breakfast, Soups,Salads, Barbecues, Fish, and Pies recipes and including the famous Butter Tarts recipe. Here is the famous Butter Tarts. They are so delicious and the filling melts in your mouth. This is the welcoming sight upon entering the Cafe. Lynne is right, we just gained five pounds just looking at these. The lesson we gained here, besides the calories, is that never give up on your passion! Just like another World Famous Chef advised: "Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it." - Julia Child Bon Appetit mes amies! |
