The Elf on the Shelf - A Christmas Tradition

Last Sunday,  we were at Pottery Barn Kids Store here in Toronto to view their Christmas decorations and to look for gifts for kids.  I always enjoy and feel like a kid when walking around their Kids section. I love their beautiful toys, bed sheets, dolls and colourful collections for kids.  We obtained a  Pottery Barn Kids catalogue where my Mom discovered this children's book The Elf on the Shelf, A Christmas Tradition written by Carol V. Aebersold and Chanda A. Bell with Illustrations by Coe Steinwart. This book  inspired her to decorate our Dining room using her Elf dolls collection.

The Elf on the Shelf book is a holiday book that uses playful rhymes and an entertaining story to remind kids that Santa Claus is watching who is naughty and nice.

The Santa Claus collection of Plates.  I love these plates. They would be lovely in a Christmas Buffet table for Guests to use. It has matching table napkins and White cream and Sugar containers. The table is decorated with  baby pine trees in separate pots.

To continue the Story:  The Elves keep an eye on the children during the daytime. Then, after the children's bedtime, the Elves travel to the North Pole to report to Santa Claus who has been naughty or nice.

On the next day, the Elves return to a different location in the house. The  children will not know where they are watching them, to see if they are naughty or nice.  This book is creating a fun hide and seek game each morning for the children.

The book inspired my Mom so much that she decided to decorate our Dining Room with the Elves.

The Elves on our  Dining Cabinet watching over us  if  we  are being naughty or nice.

The Elves are Santa's helpers. They can directly report to Santa Claus if we have been naughty or nice.  There is still time before Christmas Eve to be nice!

Then during the daytime, the Elves return in a different location - on the hanging plant ropes!

This is a new Christmas theme we discovered at Pottery Barn Kids. It shows that, whether young or old, we can still be inspired  and have fun decorating with many Christmas themes.

Merry Christmas!
Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. The Elf on the shelf is very cute Pamela. We have a 1950s elf that a friend from NY gave us many years ago although he is ever so slightly naughty looking.
