Milan Fashion Week - Shopping in Milan

These days is Milan Fashion Week!  Major Italian Fashion Houses like Prada, Fendi, Gucci, D&G and Versace have shown their Spring and Summer 2012 collections. Since I cannot be there to attend the fashion shows, I will just write about shopping in Milan.

Milan is the Fashion Capital of Italy. It is mostly the headquarters of major Italian Fashion Houses like Prada, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Versace and Dolce and Gabbana.  Gucci and Ferragamo's headquarters are both in Florence, Italy. When I visited Milan last Spring 2011, I was amazed by the huge,  mega stores of Prada, Armani, Fendi, Dolce And Gabbana and Missoni. They sell everything from Children's clothing, Women's, Men's and even Home ware! Towels by Missoni! Imagine that! It is true! Mom's can even dress their children in head to toe Gucci or Armani!  Shopping in Milan is truly fun! Usually, Milan is bypassed by tourists over visiting other cities- Rome, Florence and Venice. But Milan was fascinating!  It is not as romantic as Paris, but Milan is worth to discover. Now, let us go shopping!

Here is my Wish List Shopping in Milan:

1. FENDI  - everything FENDI is so cool now!

These Fendi bags and shoes  are so classic! They can last forever!  I imagine myself carrying those bags on my shoulder and walking everywhere wearing those shoes! I love chunky heels because they are very comfortable walking in. These shoes are perfect wearing a dress or wearing denim pants.  Available in Canada at Holt Renfrew. On-line at MyTheresa.com

2. Shopping at  Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II at Piazza  Del Duomo. The Galleria was one of the first iron and glass constructions in Italy. It has major stores of Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Tod's. There are numerous Cafes and believe or not in the corner is a McDonald's.

Zucca cafe in the background  is one of the oldest Cafe in Milan dating from 1921.

Shops inside the Galleria:

Prada

                                                                   Louis Vuitton  Store

3. Fashion District - Via Montenapoleone has high-end designer shops along the street. On the North is the Via Della Spiga which has the headquarters of Dolce & Gabbana. One of the other streets is Via Manzoni which has the Giorgio Armani Store and the Armani Cafe.

 4. La Rinascente Department Store at Piazza Del Duomo - Best place to shop in Milan  to find all
various designers for Women's, Men's, kids,  Food Hall  and for the Home. It is one stop shopping.  Very convenient especially when there is not enough time to shop around.
Coccinelle Bags made of soft Italian leather also available at La Rinascente. Coccinelle Bags are affordable and stylish. Also available on-line at  www.coccinelle.com.   They deliver in USA but not in Canada

5. 10 Corso Como is the name of the store and also the address of the store. It has a Cafe and even  a  Hotel.

6. Affordable shopping at Corso Buenos Aires - You might be wondering if there is any affordable shopping in Milan? Yes, there is at Corso Buenos Aires. It has the Flagship store of Benetton, Furla, Zara, Coccinelle Bags and other retail shops that will not require to break the bank. There are many hotels in area too.

7. Another affordable area for shopping is Via Dante near the Castello Sforzesco. This area is a famous pedestrian street  full of  shops and  restaurants. Great place to hang out on a warm, sunny day, you can relax in  the patios, have Pizza,Pasta and Red wine or drinking cappuccino to watch people passing by and can also do some  window shopping on the shops nearby.

Here is a day of shopping around Milan during the Milan Fashion Week. I hope you enjoyed it!
As the saying goes, "shop till you drop!"   Ciao!

to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your

  4. I'm impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that's both
educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that too few people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I came across this during my search for something relating to this.
